One West Side: Meet Our Grantees
A Better Chicago and the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation are investing $2 million over the next three years in community-based, homegrown leaders and programs changing the outcomes for Black and Latinx youth from low-income backgrounds on the West Side. Members of this newly founded portfolio will receive a combination of financial capital and capacity-building support to fuel their efforts and amplify their impact.
Join us Monday, September 28 as we kick off the One West Side initiative with a panel discussion including leaders from our first slate of grantees, moderated by Chicago Blackhawks Community Liaison and former player Jamal Mayers.
Grantee Speakers:
Jamyle Cannon, The Bloc
Marshall Hatch, MAAFA Redemption Project
Pastor Phil Jackson, Firehouse Community Art Center’s VIP Program
Ayesha Jaco, West Side United’s Cluster of Care Community Hub
Ruth Kimble, Austin Childcare Providers Network
